This is based on the HP Lovecraft short story of the same name. I resisted the urge to actually show whatever Warren found in the tomb – no matter how tempting it was! I felt one of the main themes of the story is that fact that you DON’T know exactly what Warren found or what happened (something that is forgotten in many HP Lovecraft adaptations). Some trivia: I made Warren’s book be “De Vermis Mysteriis” even though his book is not named in the story. This was a very early Lovecraft story and there wasn’t the complete lexicon of forbidden knowledge at that stage! I also thought De Vermis Mysteriis was a bit more of a novel choice than the obvious Necronomicon… The line “I think I went mad then” is actually taken from another story, “Dagon”. I just think it is such classic, I had to put it in.
